Anduril's Lattice Anchored Ecosystem
Anduril
Anduril is building the defense equivalent of Apple’s operating system plus devices, where the software sale makes the next hardware sale easier and every new hardware deployment makes the software more valuable. Lattice is the command layer that pulls in radar, cameras, drones, towers, and undersea vehicles into one screen, then automates detection, tracking, and tasking. That lets Anduril start with a recurring software relationship, then grow account value by adding purpose built systems like Ghost, Anvil, Altius, and Dive-LD around the same workflow.

This is different from a pure defense SaaS company like Govini, where customers buy seats to analyze supply chains and acquisition data in a browser. Anduril’s software sits in the operational loop, where the same platform can directly pull through towers, drones, counter drone interceptors, and other fielded equipment.
-
It is also different from Shield AI, which is pushing toward more software revenue through Hivemind licensing. Shield AI often licenses autonomy into other companies’ aircraft, while Anduril more often uses Lattice to anchor a tightly integrated stack of its own hardware, which gives it more control over performance, pricing, and follow on product sales.

The model matters financially because it turns defense hardware from a one time shipment into an upgrade cycle. Anduril front loads R&D, sells systems at fixed prices instead of cost plus contracts, and keeps improving the software after deployment. That supports 40 to 45% gross margins and helps explain how revenue scaled from $420M in 2023 to $1B in 2024 and $2.1B in 2025.
The next step is deeper verticalization. As Anduril adds more in house manufacturing, from Arsenal 1 in Ohio to rocket motors and infrared sensors, Lattice becomes the common software layer across a wider set of products. That pushes the company toward larger program wins where buyers want one vendor to supply the software brain, the physical systems, and the ongoing upgrades together.
