How Monark uses the Sacra API to pipe private markets research into retail investing platforms

2026-02-26

Monark is a B2B API that lets retail brokerages and wealth platforms add private markets to their existing apps. That includes pre-IPO stock in SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic, plus private equity, private credit, and real estate funds.

Through customers like Apex, Altruist, BBAE, ViewTrade, and Vested, Monark already reaches more than 30 million retail investors with $450 billion in captive assets.

Monark integrates the Sacra API into its own API, so any Monark customer can surface Sacra's research and data on private companies inside their own app through a single Monark integration.

As Monark co-founder & CEO Ben Haber put it: "One of the fundamental barriers to entry for accredited investors in private markets is access to high quality research and information about private investments."

The transaction stack and the investor experience layer

Monark's thesis is that existing brokerage and wealth apps, not standalone alts platforms, are the right distribution channel for private markets.

Before Monark, you had private- and alternative-specific platforms on one side and public markets products on the other. With Monark, any investment platform can offer private markets directly within its existing brokerage experience.

Brokerages own the customer relationship, sit on the cash, and need new high-margin revenue lines as zero-commission trading and PFOF have compressed the core business.

A 2-3% commission on a private placement is roughly 100x the revenue of an equivalent dollar of PFOF. That's why Schwab, SoFi, Robinhood, Morgan Stanley, and dozens of smaller brokerages are racing in.

Monark's API handles the full transaction stack: accreditation, suitability, execution, custody, and reporting. With a single integration, any brokerage can go live with private markets in their app.

The next layer up is the investor experience.

Public markets investors are spoiled. SPY in Robinhood comes with price history, earnings, P/E, news, and analyst coverage. A pre-IPO offering, historically, comes with a logo, a minimum, and a "subscribe" button.

That asymmetry is one of the biggest reasons retail adoption of alts has lagged demand. Investors say they want SpaceX, but a $25,000 check with no information beyond a fact sheet is a hard ask.

Most of Monark's brokerage customers have never offered Reg D products before. They don't have analysts on pre-IPO names, and they don't have the in-house research teams that incumbents like iCapital and CAIS have spent a decade building.

They need someone to hand them the investor-facing context their users expect, without standing up a private markets research function from scratch.

Sacra research, inside every Monark integration

None

Monark uses the Sacra API to pipe institutional-grade research and data on private companies into every brokerage and wealth app on Monark's network.

Specifically, Monark customers can surface, inside their own apps:

  • Company reports: full one-pagers on names like SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Stripe, covering product, business model, competition, TAM, and risk factors.
  • Revenue & growth signals: ARR, revenue estimates, and growth rates pulled from Sacra's financial dataset on private companies.
  • Valuation & funding round data: current valuations, last-round price, round-by-round history, and investors on the cap table.
  • Company news feeds: major news per company, so investors see what's actually happening at SpaceX or OpenAI before they click "subscribe."
  • Founder & CEO interviews: long-form qualitative research that captures how operators inside these companies actually think.

The same dataset that top secondary funds, venture funds, and asset managers already use to source and underwrite private investments now sits behind every Monark-powered brokerage experience, without the brokerage having to license, ingest, or maintain it themselves.

Sacra handles delivery to Monark through a single REST API (docs), so a Monark customer goes from zero to embedded private-markets research with one set of API keys.
