Amazon launched Prime in 2005 with unlimited two day shipping, and by 2021 Amazon said Prime had more than 200 million paid members worldwide. Ultrafast delivery is aiming at the same demand unlock. Instead of planning a weekly grocery run or booking a delivery window, the customer opens an app when they run out of milk, paper towels, or a charger, taps buy, and gets it in 10 to 15 minutes. That removes both the scheduling step and the need to build a big basket first.

The hard part is that groceries punish small baskets more than general ecommerce does.
