This move shows that Shield AI is trying to make Hivemind the autonomy layer for any military machine that has to keep working after the link back to a human is weak or gone. In aircraft, that means flying and navigating under jamming. In orbit, it means satellites and space vehicles deciding how to maneuver, inspect, and coordinate with each other when latency, bandwidth, and contested communications make joystick style control impractical. Sedaro matters because it gives Shield AI a realistic place to train and test those behaviors before flight hardware is involved.

The partnership is software first, not a satellite manufacturing push. Shield AI named Hivemind Pilot as the preferred autonomy software for Sedaro on orbit demos, which fits the company’s broader plan to raise software from about 30% of revenue in March 2025 to 50% by 2028 through Hivemind licensing and integration work.

Sedaro’s core product is a cloud based digital twin for space systems. In plain terms, it lets teams model a satellite, its subsystems, nearby objects, comms links, and mission conditions in a high fidelity simulator. That makes it a natural wedge for proving multi agent autonomy before risking an on orbit asset.

This also puts Shield AI into a competitive pattern already visible across defense tech, where autonomy companies start in one domain and then reuse the same software stack elsewhere. Shield AI has already put Hivemind on multiple aircraft and licensed it to primes like Airbus, Kratos, and L3Harris. Anduril is following a similar cross domain path with Lattice and space adjacent systems.
The next step is turning simulated space autonomy into repeatable demonstrations that primes, military space operators, and satellite builders can buy as software instead of bespoke R&D. If that works, Shield AI becomes less a drone company and more a defense autonomy company whose core product can spread from air and sea into orbit, with each new domain making Hivemind harder to replace.
