The gap is really about product architecture, not branding. AI native platforms were built to maximize autonomous resolution from the start, so they ingest support content, connect into order, billing, and CRM systems, and execute actions like refunds or account updates inside the conversation. Incumbents like Zendesk, Freshworks, and Salesforce still sell AI mainly as part of a broader seat based help desk or CRM bundle, which makes deployment simpler for existing customers but often leaves the AI acting more like an assistant on top of the workflow than the workflow itself.
