Gamma looks more like a strategic missing product than a standalone slide app. Its card based, prompt first workflow solves the hardest part of presentations, getting from blank page to polished draft, while also stretching into docs, microsites, and social assets. That makes it especially attractive to larger creative suites that already own templates, brand systems, and distribution, but still need an AI native presentation layer that ordinary non designers will actually use.

  • Gamma won where Pitch and Tome stumbled by turning AI into activation, not just novelty. Pitch stayed a better slide editor for design conscious teams, but Gamma used AI to get users to a first draft in minutes and then kept them in a full editor, which is why it scaled from $30.5M ARR at the end of 2024 to $102M by October 2025.
  • Canva is the clearest buyer because its playbook is to expand from one rectangle format into every other one, then layer collaboration, approvals, brand assets, and enterprise controls on top. Gamma would give Canva a stronger AI native presentation and microsite workflow for PMs, founders, and go to market teams who need to turn rough text into something presentable fast.
  • Figma and Adobe each have a different gap that Gamma could fill. Figma is strong with designers and product teams, but weaker as a simple company wide presentation tool. Adobe has deep creative tooling and bundle power, but Gamma offers a much lighter, browser native way to make interactive business content that can live as a deck, doc, or webpage.

The next phase is a land grab to own business communication before foundation model labs and suite incumbents flatten slides into a commodity. Gamma is valuable because it already packages AI generation, editing, and responsive publishing into one product. That makes it a plausible category winner on its own, and an even more logical acquisition if a larger suite wants to lock in the workflow quickly.
