Saronic Outpaces HavocAI in Navy Contracts

HavocAI

Company Report
Saronic's pace of contract awards and direct Navy relationships create competitive pressure in the fast attack and reconnaissance segments.

Saronic is dangerous because it is already turning Navy interest into repeatable procurement, not just demos. In practice that matters most in fast attack and reconnaissance, where buyers want small boats they can field quickly for river patrol, coastal defense, and sensor missions. Saronic moved from founding in September 2022 to a $392M Navy production contract in under three years, with products spanning 6 foot scout boats to larger strike platforms, which gives it credibility with the exact Navy users HavocAI also needs to win.

  • Saronic and HavocAI overlap most where low cost boats replace manned patrol craft. Saronic sells complete fixed price vessels starting around $400K, while HavocAI is pushing a cheaper software defined model around $100K platforms. That makes Saronic the stronger incumbent on proved procurement velocity, even if HavocAI can argue lower cost and faster retrofit economics.
  • The relationship advantage is concrete. Saronic won its first Navy contract within 90 days of founding, generated $17M in awards in its first 18 months, and is scaling production after acquiring Gulf Craft's Louisiana shipyard in April 2025. That gives Navy program offices a supplier that already knows the buying process, test cycle, and delivery motion.
  • This pressure extends beyond the U.S. Once a platform is validated by the U.S. Navy, allied buyers tend to follow the same shortlist. Saronic has already opened a Sydney office for AUKUS field work and is pursuing the UK, Japan, Singapore, and the UAE, which can crowd out smaller players in allied reconnaissance programs before they fully open.

Going forward, the fast attack and reconnaissance segment is likely to consolidate around companies that can pair autonomy software with direct military sales channels and dependable production. That favors Saronic today. For HavocAI to keep space open, its best path is to use lower cost retrofits and allied expansion to win programs where buyers want swarming capability without waiting for a new purpose built fleet.
