The big shift is that video is losing its built in proof of reality and becoming just another editable software output. As tools like Runway, Synthesia, Tavus, and Sora make polished video cheap and fast, the value moves away from just looking professional and toward proving source, consent, and context. In practice, that means generated training clips and localized explainers can spread everywhere, while sales, media, and high stakes communication need new trust rails.

This follows the same pattern as earlier video democratization waves. Better cameras on phones and browser based editing raised baseline quality for everyone. AI pushes that much further by turning scripting, translation, avatar creation, and b roll generation into software steps instead of studio work.

The market is already splitting by trust sensitivity. Synthesia and Tavus found adoption first in internal training, onboarding, translation, and scaled outreach, where the job is to deliver information cheaply and fast. In those workflows, realism matters less than speed, localization, and throughput.

The next control layer is provenance, not just pixels. OpenAI says Sora outputs include visible and invisible provenance signals plus C2PA metadata. Adobe and C2PA position content credentials as a standard way to attach source history to media, which is how platforms will rebuild trust as fake looking content improves.
Over the next few years, video products will compete on trust infrastructure as much as creation quality. The winners will be the platforms that pair instant generation with identity checks, consent flows, disclosure, and verifiable provenance, because cheap video will be everywhere but believable video will be scarce.
