some of these capabilities can just be embedded and consumed inside the NetSuite application

This signals that FIS is shifting from selling finance software as a separate system to selling finance functions as infrastructure inside the software companies already use. In practice, that means an ERP like NetSuite can become the screen where a finance team sends vendor payments, collects customer payments, reconciles activity, and runs cash workflows, while FIS supplies the payment rails, bank connectivity, and compliance behind the scenes.

  • The clearest change is customer scope. Bond started as API software for embedding cards, accounts, and payments into vertical SaaS products. Under FIS, Roy Ng describes the same stack expanding beyond fintechs and banks into corporates, with accounts payable and receivable positioned as software for the office of the CFO.
  • NetSuite is a useful example because ERP users already manage invoices, vendors, and receivables there. NetSuite supports payment processing options tied to accounts receivable and accounts payable, and the broader market has built large businesses by plugging payment acceptance and automation directly into that workflow instead of asking finance teams to leave the ERP.
  • This also explains why FIS bought Bond and folded it into Atelio. Atelio was launched to package FIS capabilities as embeddable services, including risk, KYC, and transaction monitoring. That turns old processor functions into modular building blocks that a software platform or ERP partner can drop into its own product and distribute to existing users.

The direction is toward finance features disappearing into core business software. As more ERP, treasury, and vertical SaaS platforms embed payables, receivables, cards, and banking workflows, the winners will be infrastructure providers like FIS that own the regulated pipes and let the application layer keep the customer relationship.
