The core idea is that every cubic inch in a rider bag must earn a target return based on distance, package size, and handling needs. That lets Pidge price a long distance bulky shipment and a stack of short local drops to produce similar daily earnings per rider, which is how it can stay commission free and still target positive unit economics.

  • Pidge sells delivery as a metered logistics service. It charges by volume, distance, and special handling, and says it monitors bag fill in real time. That is closer to selling cargo capacity than taking a cut of GMV, which fits higher value, odd shaped, and cold chain deliveries that do not map cleanly to food marketplace pricing.
  • The comparison point is Swiggy and similar consumer delivery platforms, which built dense local fleets around small radius, high frequency orders and typically monetize with a 15% to 25% take rate on order value. If Pidge keeps combining premium bulky orders at the top of the pyramid with dense ecommerce volume at the bottom, it can widen the gap with food first networks that were designed around small baskets and short radiuses.
