Figma
We believe that Figma has an attractive land and expand dynamic within an organisation.

Reviewing context
Figma’s real moat inside a company is that one design file turns into shared working infrastructure for adjacent teams. Designers start the workflow, but product managers, engineers, writers, and marketers get pulled in because the same browser file becomes the place to review screens, reuse components, leave comments, and make lightweight edits instead of asking design to export decks or docs.

At Lime, roughly 8 or 9 designers supported 35 to 40 Figma users, with non designers getting edit access to repurpose files for city partners, product planning, and engineering handoff. That shows how seat growth can outpace growth in the core design team.

The upgrade path is usually viewer to commenter to editor. Teams first share a file for feedback, then recurring reviewers ask for edit rights or are given licenses once they play an active role. Expansion happens through usage, not a large rollout plan.

Compared with Canva, Figma goes narrower but deeper. Canva wins by making creation easy for almost anyone across presentations, video, and marketing. Figma wins when one source of truth has to carry detailed product design work into discussion, prototyping, and developer handoff.
The next phase is turning that organic spread into bigger org wide contracts. As Figma adds products like whiteboarding and broader collaboration surfaces, more teams can enter through lightweight use cases first, then convert into paid editors and enterprise plans once security, admin controls, and consolidated buying matter.
