The real upside is that Klaviyo can turn from a point solution for sending campaigns into the system that stores a merchant’s live customer record, because the company that holds the purchase history, subscription status, SMS behavior, site activity, and offline events can keep adding new workflows on top of the same profile. That is how HubSpot expanded from email into a broader revenue engine, and it is the same expansion path Klaviyo is pursuing in ecommerce.

  • Klaviyo won early by replacing spreadsheet work with a built in customer model. Instead of exporting CSVs from Shopify and Mailchimp, a marketer could build segments from order history and behavior inside one interface, then trigger flows like abandoned cart, win back, or subscription churn prevention off that same data.
