CloudWalk Monetizes Pix with Credit

Company Report
Rather than fight potentially disruptive technologies in stablecoins and Pix, Brazil's instant payment rail that reached 47% of non-cash payment volume in 2024 at merchant costs of 0.22% versus 2.34% for credit cards, CloudWalk has absorbed them into the platform

CloudWalk is treating cheap instant rails as customer acquisition and credit distribution, not as a threat to card economics. A merchant can take cards, free Pix, and now Pix Credit inside one app, then use the same account for settlement and working capital. That keeps CloudWalk in the payment flow even when the underlying rail gets cheaper, and shifts monetization toward lending, software, and higher frequency merchant usage.1 2 3 4 5 6

  • Pix changes the unit economics of acquiring in Brazil. The Central Bank said Pix reached 47% of non cash payment transactions by the last quarter of 2024, and external reporting citing BIS data put average merchant cost at 0.22% for Pix versus about 2.2% to 2.34% for credit cards. That compresses pure payment take rates for every acquirer.1 2 3 4
  • CloudWalk’s answer is to rebuild installment credit on top of Pix. InfinitePay launched Pix Credit in October 2024, letting shoppers split a purchase into installments without a card while the merchant receives the full amount immediately. That preserves the merchant benefit of instant settlement while moving CloudWalk into underwriting and consumer credit spreads.5 6
  • This fits CloudWalk’s broader stack. The company says about 80% of entrepreneurs use at least two InfinitePay products, and recent FIDC funding was earmarked to finance receivables advances. In practice, free Pix helps win the merchant, then CloudWalk can monetize faster settlement, receivables advances, loans, and account activity across the same merchant base.2 7 8

The likely end state is that basic payment acceptance keeps getting cheaper, while the real profit pool moves to whoever owns merchant cash flow and can extend credit on top of it. CloudWalk is positioning InfinitePay for that shift early, so as Pix grows, it can capture more of the lending and software layer instead of losing the merchant relationship.1 2 5 7 8
