Airtable wins in messy workflows where data, approvals, deadlines, and handoffs cut across functions, like a content calendar tied to client renewals or a market launch runbook. Those edge apps spread because operators can build them themselves, then pull in adjacent teams and later justify bigger enterprise contracts.

Airtable tends to start with translators and ops people, the employees sitting between frontline work and management. They build the first workflow, train others, and become the budget sponsor because they can show a concrete process that now runs in one place instead of across spreadsheets, email, and point tools.
