Cohere embedded into SAP ecosystem

Cohere

The company has built partnerships with SAP

This partnership matters because it turns Cohere from a model vendor into embedded infrastructure inside one of enterprise software’s biggest distribution channels. Instead of asking CIOs to buy a separate AI stack, Cohere gets inserted into workflows companies already run in SAP for finance, supply chain, procurement, and HR. That shortens sales cycles, makes private deployment easier to justify, and fits Cohere’s strength in secure enterprise rollouts across cloud and controlled environments.

  • SAP said in May 2025 that it was expanding its partnership with Cohere, starting with Cohere Rerank and evaluating Command and Embed for the SAP ecosystem. Cohere said its models would help power agentic AI for SAP Business Suite and be available through the generative AI hub in SAP AI Core. That means Cohere is being wired into SAP’s existing app and data layer, not sold as a standalone chatbot.
  • The fit is strategic because Cohere already sells mainly through private enterprise deployments. Around 85% of revenue comes from private deployments, and its core pitch is cloud agnostic delivery across public cloud, virtual private cloud, and on premises setups. SAP gives that deployment model a large installed base of regulated global enterprises that already want AI inside business systems without moving sensitive data into a consumer style product.
  • This is the same broad pattern seen elsewhere in enterprise software. SAP has used partnerships and investments to pull outside AI and workflow vendors into its distribution layer, including its 2023 investment in Cohere and minority investment in Icertis to deepen go to market access into the SAP base. For Cohere, the SAP relationship is less about headline model quality and more about owning the secure enterprise insertion point.

The next step is deeper productization, where Cohere moves from being one model option inside SAP to becoming part of how SAP ships sovereign, agentic, and region specific AI. That path was already visible by late 2025 and early 2026, when SAP tied Cohere North into its EU AI Cloud and then expanded with Cohere on sovereign AI deployments, showing the partnership evolving from integration into shared distribution and infrastructure.
