This points to Chainalysis moving from a crypto detective tool into an operating system for day to day risk and growth teams. The same address graphs, wallet labels, and transaction histories that help investigators trace hacks can also help an exchange block a scam payment before it clears, group wallets into a single customer profile, and measure which user cohorts trade more, churn less, or respond to outreach.

  • In fraud prevention, the shift is from after the fact investigation to real time decisioning. Chainalysis added Alterya in January 2025, then packaged it as an AI fraud product that links scam signals across websites, wallets, digital wallets, and bank accounts so exchanges can stop transfers before funds leave the platform.
  • In product analytics and CRM, the core asset is entity resolution. If an exchange can tell that dozens of wallet addresses belong to one user or institution, it can build cleaner customer profiles, segment whales from casual traders, spot dormant accounts becoming active again, and trigger sales or support outreach using on chain behavior instead of just app clicks.
  • This is also how Chainalysis expands beyond narrow compliance budgets. Elliptic is the closest blockchain analytics rival, while Alloy shows the adjacent playbook in fraud, turning raw risk data into workflow software for operations teams. Chainalysis was already at about $190M ARR in 2023, much larger than Elliptic at $12.5M revenue and Alloy at $55M ARR.

The next step is deeper embedding inside exchanges, banks, stablecoin issuers, and wallet apps. As crypto firms converge with mainstream financial products, the winner will be the company that not only maps illicit flows, but also sits in the live workflow where teams approve users, block payments, score accounts, and decide who gets served next.
