Zapier’s advantage in agents starts with distribution through work users have already built, not with a new AI interface. A team that already connected Salesforce, Gmail, Slack, and Gong in Zapier can add an LLM step, approval, or agent on top of those live flows instead of reconnecting systems from scratch. That gives Zapier existing auth, workflow history, and proven step logic that make new agent behavior easier to launch and easier to trust.1 2 3 4

  • Zapier’s core product already gives users triggers, actions, filters, and logs across thousands of apps. In its recent agent push, the company describes AI as another layer inside that scaffold, where deterministic steps gather context, call models at specific moments, and keep humans in the loop for approvals or overrides.1 2 4
  • That is different from Viktor’s starting point. Viktor lives in Slack and Teams, lets users assign work in chat, and then executes across 3,200 integrations inside a persistent cloud workspace. The product removes workflow design overhead, but it also has to recreate the confidence Zapier gets from visible step by step automation history and established controls.3 4
  • The broader category shows why this installed base matters. n8n’s sticky users stay because they have already invested time into workflows that move data across many systems, and those workflows become hard to replace. In automation, existing connections and accumulated process knowledge often matter more than whichever AI layer is newest.5

This points toward a split market. Incumbent automation platforms are likely to absorb agent features by turning old workflows into AI assisted ones, while chat native products like Viktor will win where teams want to delegate work quickly without mapping a flow first. Over time, the winners will be the products that pair easy delegation with inspectable execution and strong controls.1 3 4 5
