SOC-2 and ISO certifications can unlock thousands of R&D-heavy corporations still relying on legacy patent management tools.

Security certification is the bridge from pilot users to big corporate IP budgets. Large R&D companies do not buy AI patent software on output quality alone, they buy only after security, privacy, and procurement teams clear it. That matters because Solve already serves 400 plus IP teams, including enterprises like Siemens and Avery Dennison, and its browser based workflow is built for attorneys and inventors to paste sensitive invention disclosures, transcripts, office actions, drawings, and technical materials into the product.

  • SOC 2 evaluates controls around security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy, while ISO 27001 sets requirements for an information security management system. In practice, these certifications give procurement teams a standard packet to approve a vendor handling pre filing invention data and other highly sensitive IP materials.
  • The replacement target is not greenfield software. Clarivate bought Rowan Patents in July 2024 to extend from IP management into drafting and prosecution, showing how incumbents are trying to keep drafting inside the same system that already stores search, docketing, and patent records. That installed base is exactly why enterprise trust signals matter.
  • This is also how vertical tools defend against broader legal AI platforms. LexisNexis partnered with Harvey in June 2025 to combine trusted legal content with generative workflows, and the broader legal market is moving quickly toward AI assisted work. For Solve, certification makes it easier to win corporate legal departments before horizontal platforms or incumbent suites absorb the patent workflow.

The next leg of growth is likely to come from turning isolated drafting use into a system of record for enterprise IP teams. Once security objections fall away, the product can spread from outside counsel and small IP groups into larger corporate R&D organizations, then expand into adjacent workflows like invention intake, prosecution, and litigation charts.
