Stan’s Shopify vs Whop’s Amazon
Jan-Erik Asplund
TL;DR: Starting as a store-in-bio for Instagram & TikTok creators, Stan grew to $35M ARR before hitting the ceiling of a single $29/month tier with no expansion levers. It’s now betting on Stanley, an AI agent that posts on LinkedIn & Instagram for creators. Sacra estimates Stan hit $35M ARR in 2025, up 24% YoY, decelerating from 93% growth in 2024. We've covered Stan (February 2024, May 2024, April 2025) from its initial breakthrough as the store-in-bio for the creator middle class through to its product-market fit with small-scale Instagram and TikTok creators, and followed up with an interview of co-founder & CTO Vitalii Dodonov about Stan's creator base and approach to retention.
Here's our April 2026 Stan update with key points via Sacra AI:
- Sacra estimates that Stan hit $35M ARR in 2025 with 80,000+ active creators (~$437 ARPC)—decelerating from 93% YoY growth in 2024 and 765% in 2023—with its single $29/month pricing tier and zero take rate on GMV leading to gross churn catching up with new acquisition and a lack of an expansion lever, while it got profitable at ~40% EBITDA margins and stayed capital-light with its $5M seed from Forerunner in 2022 as its sole round of institutional funding.
- Whop ($142M annualized revenue in October 2025, growing ~255% YoY), the Amazon to Stan’s Shopify for grey-market creator SKUs, neck-in-neck in revenue scale in 2024, surpassed Stan in 2025 as its marketplace model enabled it to compound via demand-side aggregation, while Stan’s storefront model required creators to bring their own audiences, subject to the fickle nature of customer demand for dog grooming guides and tarot classes.
- Betting on its creator brand, influencer marketing motion and 80,000-creator base as a distribution channel for new tools, Stan launched Stanley, an AI "Head of Content" agent that posts for you on LinkedIn (March 2026) and Instagram (April 2026), hitting $200K ARR at launch day and crossing $2M in revenue in March 2026, with the upside of offering a cross-sell motion via a bundle of creator tools and by helping Stan creators sell more & build viable businesses.
