What are the recent changes in email usage patterns, and how has it been evolving in the past few years?

Many companies are living in two worlds. They have their external communication, which still happens over email with customers, with recruits, and with sales. Then they have their internal team chat, which is on this proprietary system that doesn't integrate with email.
This divide is causing people to live in these two worlds, and it makes it really hard to cross the divide between these two. Email is still a fairly ubiquitous product across companies. It's not that there are new use cases. Our core bet isn't that there are new use cases for email, but rather that we need to bring the email user experience up to par so that it can satisfy the use cases it used to satisfy that newer tools have taken from it.
