Pocket Reaches $100M Faster
Pocket’s ramp shows that offline conversation capture can scale faster than earlier AI memory products when the device is simple, the price is low enough to buy on impulse, and the subscription starts paying back immediately. Otter needed years of Zoom driven network effects to reach $100M ARR, and Limitless was still near $2.2M ARR plus about $1.3M of hardware sales after its pivot. Pocket, by contrast, turned a phone accessory into both a recorder sale and a recurring software sale within months.1 2 3 4
- Otter’s path to $100M was built around virtual meetings. Its bot joined Zoom, Meet, and Teams calls, then spread inside calls as other people saw it. Pocket skips that slower software only adoption loop by selling a physical device for the offline moments where Zoom bots cannot go, like calls, consultations, and field work.2 4
- Limitless and the earlier Rewind product were still searching for the right form factor and workflow. Rewind raised at a $350M valuation on about $707K ARR, then pivoted into pendant hardware, and Limitless was later reported at roughly $2.2M ARR with about $1.3M in pendant sales. Pocket reached meaningful run rate with a narrower job and cleaner product, record, transcribe, summarize, and search conversations from a phone attached device.3 4
- The other useful comparable is Plaud, which proved this category can get very large once hardware and software are bundled. Plaud reached about $250M annualized revenue with a roughly 50, 50 split between device sales and subscriptions. Pocket’s early mix already leaned slightly toward subscription, which suggests a stronger monetization profile per shipped unit than hardware alone would imply.1 4
The next phase is a race to own offline meeting memory before broader platforms absorb it. If Pocket keeps converting device buyers into paid subscribers, it can become the default recorder for doctors, lawyers, sales reps, and other people whose important conversations happen away from the laptop, then expand from note capture into systems of record and workflow handoffs.1 4
