Fin for Platforms integrates with Zendesk and
Intercom
Fin for Platforms turns Intercom from a help desk replacement into an AI layer that can ride on top of incumbent systems. Instead of asking a Zendesk or Salesforce customer to rip out their ticketing workflow, Intercom lets Fin read the existing help center, answer tickets and messages, then hand unresolved cases back into the customer’s current queue. That makes Fin easier to buy as a point solution, while preserving an upgrade path into the full Intercom workspace later.1 2 3 4 5 6
- The product is built to leave the system of record in place. On Zendesk, Fin syncs the Help Center, resolves email, forms, messaging, and chat, then escalates to Zendesk agents with conversation context. Intercom explicitly frames this as no migration required, which lowers switching cost for large support teams already trained on Zendesk or Salesforce.2 3 4 5
- This bridges Intercom’s old tension between interoperability and vertical integration. Intercom has long argued the best experience comes when bot, inbox, docs, and reporting sit in one stack, but it also built importers and syncs so Fin could start with content from public URLs, Zendesk, and now Salesforce Knowledge. Fin for Platforms is that strategy productized.4 6 7
- The broader market is moving toward coopetition between AI agents and help desks. AI support agents increasingly sit above the incumbent record system, using open APIs while competing for more of the workflow. Fin for Platforms lets Intercom meet Decagon, Ada, and similar vendors on that terrain instead of limiting itself to companies willing to adopt a full Intercom help desk.7 8
Over time, the standalone SKU should function as Intercom’s enterprise wedge. It gets Fin into larger accounts through a narrower AI ROI pitch, then creates pressure to consolidate more of support into the native stack once teams want shared inbox workflows, tighter bot training, and fewer connectors to maintain.3 7 8
