This points to a battle over who owns the full software loop, not just who writes the next line of code. OpenAI is pulling coding into ChatGPT itself, with Codex running in the cloud and the macOS app able to work with terminals and Xcode, which lets it sit above editor choice and absorb planning, editing, execution, and debugging into one surface.
