Kapital's expansion into wealth management and brokerage through Intercam positions it to compete with these incumbents' full-service offerings

This move pushes Kapital from being an SMB finance tool into becoming a real challenger to Mexico’s incumbent universal banks. Legacy banks already sell the full stack, operating accounts for a business, loans, payroll flows, brokerage, trusts, and wealth products for the owner. Kapital started with the operating account and cash flow software, then added lending and payments, and Intercam adds the products that let it keep the founder’s personal money on platform too.1 2 3 4

  • Kapital’s core wedge was always the daily operating account. The product shows incoming invoices, unpaid bills, balances, vendor payments, collections, cards, and working capital in one screen, which made it stickier than a card only player like Brex or a lending only player like Konfio.2 3
  • Intercam fills the biggest product gap versus incumbents. The acquisition adds brokerage, asset management, trusts, and a large wealth client base, so Kapital can serve both the company treasury and the owner’s investments, retirement assets, and cash parked outside the business.1 4
  • That makes Kapital look less like a pure neobank and more like a digital Grupo Financiero. Earlier it used Banco Autofin to get bank infrastructure and direct central bank connectivity. Intercam extends that logic from payments and deposits into higher trust, higher balance products that old banks have long used to deepen relationships.2 3 4

The next step is a tighter bundle around the business owner, not just the business. If Kapital can connect SMB operating cash, credit, cross border payments, and personal investing in one system, it can attack the exact place incumbents have been strongest, the long lived relationship with the owner and all of their money.1 2 4
