The real risk is not that FirstClub is wrong about what affluent grocery buyers want, it is that bigger apps can now bundle the same trust cues into much larger delivery networks. FirstClub built around inspected produce, clean label screening, exclusives, and planned fresh deliveries, but Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto are each adding premium produce, private label, and better fresh visibility on top of far denser store footprints and broader memberships.

  • FirstClub still looks more opinionated at the shelf level. It keeps roughly 4,000 pre vetted products, says about 60% of assortment was exclusive in late 2025, and runs fulfillment through ClubHouses built for inspection and cold chain handling, not just picking speed. That makes the product feel more like a trusted grocer than a generic delivery app.
  • The incumbents are copying the highest value parts, not the whole model. Instamart has tested Nectr for premium produce and highlighted Noice as a clean label brand, while Zepto rolled out Real Lens so shoppers can see timestamped produce photos from the nearest store. These features attack the exact trust gap that made FirstClub stand out.
  • Scale changes the economics of imitation. Blinkit had about 2,243 dark stores by March 2026, Instamart had 1,143 across 129 cities by Q4 FY26, and both sit inside larger consumer ecosystems. That lets them spread quality experiments across many more orders, while FirstClub had 24 clubhouses across Bengaluru and Hyderabad as of June 2026.

The next phase is a race to make trust feel habitual, not novel. If FirstClub can turn curation into repeat morning orders, private label demand, and a household level membership habit before rivals get good enough, it can keep a distinct lane. If not, premium grocery features will become table stakes inside the big quick commerce apps.
