Figma is turning a design seat into a broader creative and software production seat. The acquired pieces map to work that starts after a mockup is approved, motion and visual asset creation with Modyfi and Weavy, and content and site production with Payload. That matters because it gives Figma more reasons to stay open after the design handoff, when developers, marketers, and brand teams usually move into other tools.1 2 3 4 5

  • Payload pushes Figma into the developer and content stack. A headless CMS is the backend where teams store page copy, images, and structured content, then publish it to websites and apps. Figma described the deal as a way to let teams go from prototype to production with content and data in one place.2 3
  • Modyfi and Weavy both expand Figma beyond static screens. Figma said Modyfi supports visual expression work, and later described Weavy, now Figma Weave, as AI native media generation and editing for image, video, animation, motion, and VFX. That extends Figma from designing interfaces to making the assets that fill them.4 5 6
  • This is also a monetization and retention move, not just a product one. By Q4 2025, over 80% of Figma Make weekly active users on Full seats also used Figma Design, and 66% of customers were using three or more products in 2025. More adjacent tools inside one workspace makes seat expansion and bundle selling easier.1 7 8

The next step is a more complete design to build workflow where a team drafts the UI, generates assets, prototypes the product, manages content, and ships updates without leaving Figma. If that holds, Figma competes less like a point design tool and more like a cross functional creation stack, closer to Adobe and Canva in breadth, but with stronger links into product and developer workflows.1 2 5 9
