Company Report
Notion AI is the closest product analog among workspace challengers.

This puts Notion in the most dangerous position for Sauna because it sells a similar end state from inside a tool teams already use every day. Notion is no longer just a notes app with an AI button. It now combines meeting capture, cross app search, research drafting, database updates, and agents inside the same workspace where teams already keep docs, tasks, and project context. That makes the overlap much tighter than with Google or Microsoft, whose AI still starts from broader office suites rather than a shared operating system for startup and team workflows.

  • Notion now bundles most of the same everyday AI jobs that Sauna is trying to own. Its May 13, 2025 release added AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search, Research Mode, and an AI Home, and its September 2025 product update added autonomous Agents and expanded MCP connectors.
  • The product shape is especially close because Notion already mixes unstructured docs with structured databases and project boards in one place. A team can store meeting notes, roadmap pages, task tables, and research docs in the same workspace, then let AI search, summarize, and update that shared state.
  • The pricing attack is as important as the feature overlap. Starting May 13, 2025, Notion AI became included in Business and Enterprise plans, with unlimited usage for features like Enterprise Search, Research Mode, and AI Meeting Notes. That lets Notion make AI feel bundled, not like a new software line item.

Going forward, the fight will center on whether buyers want an AI layer inside their existing system of record, or a new command center that learns across tools better than the incumbent workspace can. Notion has the distribution and the embedded context. Sauna has to win on clearly better execution, deeper memory, and more proactive cross app work than a bundled workspace AI can deliver.
