Browser Automation for Live AI Interfaces

Diving deeper into

Peec

Company Report
Peec collects data through browser automation rather than official APIs, simulating real user sessions in the same web interfaces consumers use.

Peec’s core advantage is that it measures the answer a customer actually sees, not the cleaner backend output an API happens to return. In practice that means running prompts inside ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity like a normal user would, then recording brand mentions, ranking, citations, and shopping placements from the live interface. That is more operationally heavy, but it makes the product useful for marketers whose real question is what shows up on screen at the moment of discovery.

  • This approach matters because consumer AI products increasingly add interface specific layers on top of raw model output. OpenAI’s shopping flow, for example, asks follow up questions, compares products side by side, and shows rankings, labels, and merchant links that are selected in the product experience, not just returned as a simple API response.
  • The tradeoff is a harder business to operate. Browser automation has to keep working as each AI product changes layouts, login flows, citation rendering, or rate limits. That creates more engineering and compute cost than a normal SaaS data pipeline, but it is also what makes the dataset harder for a competitor to copy quickly.
  • It also explains why Peec could expand from brand monitoring into SKU level shopping analytics. Once the system is already observing the live consumer interface, it can track which exact products appear, where they rank, and which prompt patterns help them win, which is the logic behind its June 2026 AI Shopping Analytics launch.

The next step is that visibility software starts looking more like observability for AI interfaces. As shopping, search, and agent workflows move into consumer chat products, the companies that can reliably capture the live front end, and not just the underlying model call, will have the clearest picture of who is winning discovery and why.
