Zero-retention cloud for open models

Rather than set up & run open-source AI models themselves on their own hardware, users can access them through Venice’s cloud service with zero data retention

Venice is turning open source AI from a self hosting project into an instant utility, which is why the zero retention layer matters as much as the models themselves. Instead of renting GPUs, wiring up inference servers, and handling logs, users open a chat or hit one API endpoint and get text, image, video, and audio models with local history storage, unified billing, and private routing on Venice controlled or zero retention infrastructure.1 2

  • The practical job Venice does is remove the ops work around open models. Running Llama, Stable Diffusion, or newer video models alone means provisioning GPUs, updating weights, exposing endpoints, and deciding what to store. Venice sells that as a cloud service with model selection, credits, and app level privacy settings already built in.1 2
  • This is closer to an OpenRouter style gateway than to a model lab, but with a consumer app attached. One API key and wallet works across hundreds of models, so a user can move from private chat to image generation to video without setting up separate vendors. That convenience is the product, not the underlying weights by themselves.1 2
  • The contrast with Higgsfield shows the market split. Higgsfield packages models into marketer friendly video workflows and cinematic templates, while Venice packages broad model access plus permissive and private usage. One sells finished creative workflows, the other sells easy access to raw and lightly wrapped capability.3 4

The next step is for cloud wrappers like Venice to become the default distribution layer for open and semi open models, especially in sensitive chat, agent, and creator workflows. As more users care less about which model they are on and more about privacy, billing, and ease of use, the control point shifts from model ownership to who owns the interface and routing layer.1 3 4
