Company Report
Snorkel sells completed datasets and reinforcement-learning environments rather than simply connecting AI labs with contractors.

This model makes Snorkel a data manufacturer, not a labor marketplace. Instead of taking a fee for matching labs with annotators, it takes responsibility for the finished artifact, whether that is a labeled corpus, a benchmark, or a sandbox where a model can practice multi step tasks. That pushes labor, synthetic generation, QA, and research into cost of goods sold, but it also gives Snorkel room to charge for accuracy, domain fit, and faster iteration rather than hourly contractor time.1 2 3 4

  • The closest contrast is Mercor or Prolific style supply. Those companies primarily surface and vet people, then get paid for access to that workforce. Snorkel sits one layer higher. Customers hand over a task spec, Snorkel organizes experts and tooling behind the scenes, and delivers a finished training asset or evaluation environment.2 4
  • That structure looks more like Scale on hard labeling projects, where the vendor owns workflow, QA, and delivery, not just recruiting. Scale historically priced by workload and pushed contractor payments into its own operating engine. Snorkel extends that logic into reasoning data and RL environments, where the deliverable is harder to standardize and therefore worth more.3 4
  • The economic lever is reuse. If task specs, validation rules, and expert review patterns can be turned into software, each new project needs fewer expensive touches. That helps explain why a company with a data production model can still scale meaningfully, with estimated revenue of $375M at September 30, 2026 and a $3.5B valuation at September 22, 2026.1

The next phase is a split between brokers of human talent and builders of proprietary training assets. As labs spend more on post training, evaluation, and agent behavior, more value should move to vendors that can package expert labor into repeatable datasets and live environments. That favors Snorkel if it keeps turning one off custom projects into reusable production systems.1 2 4
