Superpower also lets Boom monetize Symphony before Overture enters service, while the shared core means every turbine hour doubles as real world durability data for the aviation engine program.

  • The buyer and order size make this a data center infrastructure business, not a small adjacent experiment. Crusoe ordered 29 turbines, equal to 1.21 GW, and Boom says hyperscaler deals start at 1 GW minimums. That puts Superpower in the same planning conversation as campus scale AI builds, not backup generation.
  • The product fits the exact pain point in AI infrastructure. Crusoe is building multi hundred megawatt and multi gigawatt campuses in Abilene and Wyoming, and its growth is increasingly constrained by power delivery as much as by GPUs. Onsite generation shortens the path from signed demand to live compute.
  • The strategic analog is closer to Crusoe than to an aircraft supplier. Crusoe itself moved from stranded gas powered Bitcoin mining into AI cloud once AI demand outgrew available infrastructure. Boom is making a similar pivot, taking an existing propulsion core and pointing it at the fastest moving buyer in the market.

If execution holds, Superpower can become the financing engine for the rest of Boom. The likely next step is a flywheel where hyperscaler turbine sales fund Overture, turbine deployments prove out Symphony hardware at scale, and Boom becomes an unusual kind of aerospace company, one whose first large commercial engine business is selling electricity for AI before selling thrust for airlines.
