CloudWalk owns micro merchant money loop
CloudWalk
CloudWalk is trying to own the full money loop of a micro merchant, not just swipe fees. InfinitePay starts with card acceptance, but then pulls the seller into a business account, payment links, working capital loans, Pix, and now AI tools that handle support and decisions. That matters because the first card transaction creates data on sales flow, which makes lending, settlement, and software easier to price and automate for merchants too small for branch sales or legacy bank underwriting.1 2 4 5
- The go to market is built for Brazil’s smallest sellers. CloudWalk moved from infrastructure software into direct merchant sales in 2019, targeting hairdressers, street vendors, drivers, and other micro businesses that were paying around 5 percent and often waiting 30 plus days to get card proceeds. InfinitePay won by cutting fees and speeding settlement through an app first model.1 2
- Vertical integration changes the unit economics. Cards remain about half of revenue, but CloudWalk has layered on digital accounts, credit, and merchant software while serving 6M plus merchants with about 500 employees. That is the core contrast with incumbents like StoneCo and PagSeguro, which rely more on heavier field sales and legacy operating structures.1 3 4
- The product stack is also a defense against rail commoditization. Pix reached 47 percent of non cash payment transactions in Brazil in late 2024, and merchant discount rates kept drifting down in 2025. CloudWalk responded by making Pix and stablecoin settlement part of the product, then rebuilding monetization on credit and software rather than depending only on card spread.1 5 6 7
The next phase is turning this merchant bundle into a lighter, software led version of Square that can travel across rails and geographies. If CloudWalk keeps using payments data to automate underwriting, support, and onboarding, more revenue will come from credit, banking, and AI services, while card acceptance becomes the low cost entry point that keeps feeding the rest of the system.1 5 8
