Sierra Proves Trust in Healthcare
Sierra
Healthcare entry is less about adding one more logo and more about proving Sierra can be trusted in the hardest customer service environment. Health plans handle benefits questions, claims status, provider lookup, billing, and payments, all inside tightly controlled workflows. Sierra and Stellarus launched a Blue Shield of California voice agent for a large national employer and reported a 4.4 out of 5 CSAT across thousands of interactions, while Sierra also added HIPAA artifacts and PCI DSS compliance to support protected health and payment flows.1 2 3 4 5
- Healthcare is a distinct step up in difficulty from general retail or SaaS support. The agent has to pull the right plan information, explain benefits in plain language, handle sensitive identity and payment data, and stay inside health plan rules. Stellarus exists to provide the healthcare data and orchestration layer that makes that deployment safe in production.2 5
- This also shifts Sierra toward bigger contract value. Support AI already wins on unit economics, with AI resolutions around $1.50 versus roughly $15 for human handled cases. In healthcare, where call volumes are large and every live transfer is expensive, a working voice agent can save labor while improving member satisfaction.6 7
- The closest comparables in healthcare have been more vertical tools like SuperDial and Infinitus, which automate insurer phone calls and claims follow up. Sierra is coming from the opposite direction, starting as a general enterprise support agent, then adding the compliance layer needed to sell into regulated member experience workflows.6
The next leg is broader regulated expansion. Once Sierra can reliably handle health plan calls and card payment moments, the same trust posture can carry into financial services, billing heavy enterprises, and more complex outbound workflows. That pushes Sierra closer to being a system that not only answers questions, but completes high stakes transactions end to end.3 4 7
