This convergence means BaaS is shifting from a fintech toolset into outsourced operating infrastructure. Brands want accounts, cards, or lending inside their product without hiring a bank operations team, and fintechs want the same relief so they can spend time on app flows, growth, and cross selling. That pushes providers like Rize to win on how much messy bank, processor, ledger, and compliance work they can hide behind one build.

  • For a customer, the painful work is not designing a card screen, it is connecting sponsor banks, issuer processors, ledgering, KYC, AML, and controls that were never built to talk to each other. Rize positions itself as the layer that turns many vendor contracts and integrations into one API and one contract.
  • The same product can serve a neobank and an embedded finance brand because both are buying speed and less operational burden. The difference is economic. Fintech customers usually push volume and monetize interchange directly, while embedded finance customers use financial features to improve their core product and retention.
  • This is why BaaS providers increasingly look like AWS or Twilio for money movement. Marqeta helped Square, Klarna, and Ramp launch card products without building processor level infrastructure, and the broader BaaS stack expanded that idea into accounts, lending, and other banking functions delivered in weeks instead of years.

The market is heading toward fewer customers building deep fintech plumbing themselves, and more of them demanding multi product infrastructure that is already compliant and ready to extend. The winners will be the platforms that make adding the second and third financial product almost as easy as adding the first, while keeping the hidden operational stack stable.
