Kling shifts from models to workflow

Kling

Company Report
the differentiation that justified Kling AI's early pricing premium erodes, shifting competition toward distribution scale and workflow lock-in rather than generation quality.

This is the point where AI video stops being a model race and starts becoming a product and distribution race. Once rivals all offer the same table stakes, native audio, stronger consistency, longer clips, and higher resolution, the winner is less the lab with the prettiest sample and more the platform that owns the creator’s full workflow, from prompt and reference upload to editing, iteration, publishing, and repeat use inside a larger audience or marketing system.

  • Kling is already moving in that direction. Kuaishou says Kling O1 and Kling 3.0 combine text, image, video, audio, understanding, generation, and editing in one engine and workflow. That matters because bundling many steps together makes it harder to swap out the underlying model without breaking the user’s process.
  • Competitors are proving the same market shift. Higgsfield has grown by packaging models into ad making workflows and presets for marketers, while OpenArt connects Kling and Hailuo into push button video creation for SMBs. In both cases, users are buying speed, templates, and usable outputs, not loyalty to one foundation model.
  • Open and aggregated access lowers raw model differentiation further. HunyuanVideo is openly available on GitHub, and API layers like fal.ai, Replicate, and Hugging Face expose many models side by side. That makes generation quality easier to compare and arbitrage, which pushes premium pricing power toward products with better distribution or deeper workflow lock in.

The next phase is likely to reward companies that turn video generation into a habit embedded in a larger system. For Kling, the strongest path is to use Kuaishou’s existing creator and commercial ecosystem to make generation, editing, and distribution feel like one loop, because that is where durable pricing power can survive even as model quality converges.
