Hightouch schema agnostic CDP alternative

Diving deeper into

Hightouch

Company Report
By leveraging its schema-agnostic approach and adding features like identity resolution and audience segmentation, Hightouch could offer a more flexible and cost-effective alternative to traditional CDPs.

Hightouch is trying to turn the warehouse from a back office database into the control room for marketing spend. Traditional CDPs usually want companies to pipe data into a separate system with a fixed customer schema, then pay again for storage, identity stitching, and activation. Hightouch starts from the warehouse a company already has, lets teams map whatever tables they already maintain, and adds the marketer facing pieces like audience building and identity resolution on top.1 2 3

  • The cost angle comes from removing duplicate infrastructure. Instead of copying customer data into a separate CDP and conforming it to that vendor’s data model, Hightouch works on top of Snowflake, Databricks, or similar warehouses where the data already lives, then syncs audiences into Braze, Salesforce, Meta, and other tools.1 2
  • The flexibility angle comes from being schema agnostic. A retailer, B2B SaaS company, and marketplace can all keep different tables and definitions in the warehouse, then use SQL and no code audience tools on top, rather than forcing every team into one predefined events and traits model.1 2 3
  • This also explains why reverse ETL alone was not enough. Data movement is useful but hard to budget for on its own. By adding identity resolution, segmentation, match boosting, and campaign tooling, Hightouch moved from selling to data teams with $50K budgets to selling into the much larger budgets that own paid media, lifecycle, and personalization.1 3 4

The next step is a fight over who owns the marketer workflow on top of warehouse data. If Hightouch keeps bundling audience logic, identity, and AI driven campaign tooling while staying cheaper and easier to adopt than a separate CDP, it can keep pulling budget away from both legacy CDPs and point reverse ETL tools.1 3 4
