EasyPost vs Amazon Logistics Bundles

Amazon's Supply Chain by Amazon extends this model to end-to-end logistics, reducing the addressable workflow for independent infrastructure vendors.

The key shift is that Amazon is no longer just a cheap label source, it is packaging freight, storage, fulfillment, and final delivery into one operating system that can replace several vendors at once. A merchant can move goods from factory to Amazon warehouses, replenish stock across channels, and ship off Amazon orders from the same inventory pool inside Amazon’s console, which shrinks the slice of workflow left for a standalone shipping API.

  • Amazon has expanded Supply Chain by Amazon into Amazon Supply Chain Services, combining transportation, warehousing, fulfillment, and parcel shipping. It now sells both single services and a managed end to end setup, which means the wedge starts at labels but can grow into control of the whole merchant logistics stack.
  • Bundled operators already show how this compresses software only vendors. ShipBob monetizes pallets received, storage, pick and pack labor, and shipping on top of software, while Flexport pairs freight forwarding with ecommerce fulfillment after buying Shopify’s fulfillment arm. In both cases, software rides along with physical execution at low incremental cost.
  • That leaves independent vendors strongest where neutrality matters. EasyPost stays useful when brands want one API across many carriers and fulfillment partners, without handing inventory planning, carrier choice, or customer data to a marketplace or warehouse operator that is trying to capture more of the shipment economics.

The market is heading toward fewer point solutions and more logistics bundles. Independent infrastructure vendors will keep winning where merchants want carrier choice, cross partner orchestration, and a clean software layer that works across Shopify, Amazon, 3PLs, and enterprise systems, rather than one network controlling the full path from inbound freight to doorstep delivery.
