This points to Plaid becoming less like pure software and more like a network that has to pay tolls for access to its raw inputs. From here, the likely outcome is a split business. Connectivity becomes lower margin utility infrastructure, and the winners capture economics in the software layer that turns bank data into underwriting, fraud scoring, onboarding, and payments outcomes.
