Fleet as default infrastructure for agents

Diving deeper into

Fleet

Applied Intuition's trajectory in autonomous vehicle simulation is a relevant analog

The key parallel is that infrastructure can become the product of record once customers stop wanting to build brittle test systems themselves. Applied Intuition started as a way for autonomy teams to upload driving data, generate edge case scenarios, and rerun tests in hours instead of months. That neutral layer then expanded into a much bigger software stack because it sat inside a high value workflow tied directly to safety, launch timing, and engineering headcount.

  • Applied Intuition sold into fragmented internal tooling at automakers, replacing a patchwork of MATLAB, game engines, and custom scripts with one dashboard and multi year subscriptions. That is the closest analog to Fleet serving labs and software vendors that need a shared place to certify, replay, and validate agent behavior across environments.
  • The expansion path matters more than the starting niche. Applied Intuition moved from core simulation and testing into adjacent layers like Vehicle OS, data generation, and autonomy programs across trucking, mining, and defense. Once an infrastructure vendor owns the test loop, it can add neighboring software that customers already need to ship into production.
  • The commercial outcome shows how large this can get. Applied Intuition reached an estimated $415M ARR in 2024, then $830M in 2025, and was valued at $15B in its June 2025 Series F. The market rewarded it not as a narrow tool vendor, but as a horizontal software layer for mission critical workflows.

As computer use agents spread beyond frontier labs, the winning vendors are likely to be the ones that become the default testing ground for everyone else. If Fleet becomes the place where software companies make products agent ready, its role can widen from test infrastructure into the operating layer that governs how agents are certified, deployed, and trusted in production.
