PreStocks Transaction-Only Revenue Model
PreStocks
PreStocks is turning private market access into a trading product, not an investment product. That matters because most legacy platforms get paid for packaging and holding exposure, while PreStocks gets paid only when tokens change hands. Its SPV structure keeps the legal plumbing in the background, and its Solana based distribution makes small, frequent trades economical in a way brokered secondaries and fund wrappers usually are not.1 2 3
- Traditional secondaries often layer on multiple fees because the workflow is manual and slow. Brokered trades can take 3 to 6 months to close, and brokers have historically charged up to 7% per transaction, often for sourcing, paperwork, and cap table coordination. PreStocks removes those holding and admin fees by wrapping the exposure once, then monetizing repeat trading volume.2 3
- The simpler fee model fits the product design. PreStocks tokens represent non voting SPV exposure, and users trade the token rather than negotiate each underlying share transfer. That means pricing can look more like a live market quote than a one off private deal with custom economics, side letters, and fund level expenses.1 2
- This also changes who the platform is optimized for. Platforms like EquityZen and Forge were built around larger, episodic transactions, with platform fees of roughly 3% to 5% and, in some products, added management fee and carry. PreStocks is built for continuous retail sized flow, where a clean take rate and near zero chain settlement costs matter more than bespoke deal servicing.2 3
The next step is whether transaction only revenue can compound into a real exchange business. If tokenized private equities keep moving toward always on trading, lending, and collateral use cases, the winner will be the platform that maximizes turnover and liquidity, because every extra trade becomes revenue without adding the fee complexity of a fund manager.1 2
