OWN Program Drives Fleet Growth

Diving deeper into

EquipmentShare

Company Report
The OWN Program — through which contractors sell equipment to EquipmentShare but retain maintenance and storage services while the fleet is rented out — now represents the majority of total fleet OEC under management
Analyzed 7 sources

The OWN Program turns fleet growth from a balance sheet problem into a distribution and servicing business. Instead of buying every machine and carrying all that debt itself, EquipmentShare can place contractor and investor owned machines into the same rental network, keep the maintenance and storage work, and earn rental economics with less equity tied up in iron. That is why OWN becoming the majority of fleet OEC matters more than a simple mix shift.1 2 3 4

  • In practice, EquipmentShare buys or sources machines, deploys them into its rental fleet, then sells many of those units to OWN participants while continuing to manage rentals, service, and remarketing. The customer on the jobsite gets the same machine and workflow whether the asset is company owned or OWN owned.2 3 4
  • This model widens the capital base beyond EquipmentShare itself. The company has repeatedly financed OWN pools through ABS vehicles, including a fourth OWN securitization for $454 million in December 2025, which shows institutional investors are willing to fund equipment while EquipmentShare keeps operating control.4 5
  • The closest public comp, United Rentals, also offers telematics and service tools for customer owned fleets, but its core model is still a classic rental fleet. EquipmentShare is pushing further by making third party owned equipment part of the supply side of its marketplace, which gives it another way to add fleet without matching incumbents machine for machine on balance sheet.1 6 7

From here, the prize is a rental network where capital, maintenance, software, and utilization are separated and each can scale on its own. If EquipmentShare keeps moving more OEC into OWN while layering T3 software across that fleet, it becomes less like a pure equipment lessor and more like the operating system and asset manager for construction equipment supply.1 3 4 6
