Cerebras May Need Cloud Integration
Cerebras
Forward integration is how Cerebras turns a fast chip into a durable business. If hyperscalers own the developer relationship, the billing, and the daily workload routing, Cerebras risks becoming a specialized component vendor inside someone else’s cloud. Its recent move into Cerebras Cloud, Bedrock distribution, and AMD backed data center buildout shows the company is already pushing to own more of the serving stack, not just sell boxes.1 2 3 4 5 6
- The revenue mix is already shifting. Cerebras went from pure hardware in 2023 to roughly 30% inference revenue in 2025, with Cerebras Cloud reaching $152M and then cloud and other services hitting $82.8M in Q1 2026, up 178% year over year. That is what forward integration looks like in practice, recurring usage revenue instead of one time system sales.1 5
- Peers point in the same direction. Groq commercialized its silicon through GroqCloud, while SambaNova sells managed inference and enables sovereign clouds on its hardware. In this market, the winning layer is often the API endpoint where developers send prompts and where spend repeats every day, not the rack sold once into a data center.7 8
- Cerebras is still in between models. AWS is exposing Cerebras through Bedrock, which expands reach but keeps AWS in control of customer access, and the AMD partnership is set to launch first through Cerebras Cloud in the second half of 2026, which pushes the other way by deepening Cerebras owned service capacity.3 4 6
The next phase is a shift from selling accelerators to operating an inference utility. If Cerebras keeps adding its own cloud capacity, API distribution, and workload orchestration, it can capture more of the economics of agentic AI. If it stops at hardware plus partnerships, the long run value will pool with the clouds that package, route, and monetize demand.2 3 4 6 7 8
