That edge matters because larger rivals are now shipping similar AI workers across expense, accounting, HR, and procurement.

Bakuraku covers expense, invoice, cards, and adjacent workflows, while Ai Workforce extends into legal, procurement, and compliance work on Azure OpenAI. That gives it more places to learn from real document flows and cross sell once a customer digitizes one process.

Money Forward announced AI Agent, AI Agent Platform, and AX Consulting in April 2025 for 400,000 plus businesses, and freee launched an AI concept and closed beta features in May 2025. Both can spread AI into existing installed bases fast.

The next phase is a race to become the system that both employees and AI agents use to run finance operations. If LayerX keeps turning Japan specific paperwork, approvals, and compliance steps into reliable automated actions, it can stay ahead as the local AI native option. If rivals reach similar accuracy, distribution and bundling will matter more than model quality alone.
