Payhawk unifies spend across issuers

Payhawk

Company Report
Payhawk can serve companies that need to keep existing Amex or Visa programs in some markets while adding a unified control and reconciliation layer on top.

This makes Payhawk easier to win in enterprise finance stacks where the card is politically or operationally locked in. Instead of asking a multinational to rip out an Amex rewards program in the US or a local Visa setup in Europe, Payhawk can sit above those cards, pull transactions in real time, apply spend controls, collect receipts, and push clean data into SAP S/4HANA and other systems for close and audit.

  • The product motion is concrete. Companies can link existing Visa, Mastercard, and American Express corporate cards to Payhawk, then manage policy, approvals, receipt capture, and reconciliation in one place. In the US, linked Amex cards can also fund virtual Amex cards issued through Payhawk, which lets finance teams add controls without forcing a bank change.
  • That is a different wedge from Ramp and Brex. Both are strongest when the buyer is willing to standardize on their own card and software bundle. Payhawk is built for the messier enterprise case, where finance wants one operating layer across multiple incumbent card programs and ERPs instead of a full stack card migration.
  • The SAP angle matters because large companies care less about a prettier card app and more about whether expenses land correctly in the general ledger. Payhawk positions its direct SAP S/4HANA integration as a native export and sync workflow, which helps it compete in deals where Concur, Coupa, or internal SAP processes already shape how accounting closes work.

The path forward is for spend management to separate from card issuance in more enterprise deals. As global companies keep mixed issuer setups for rewards, acceptance, and local coverage, the winning layer will be the one that can normalize all that complexity into one approval, reconciliation, and ERP workflow. That is the lane where Payhawk can keep moving upmarket.
