AppsFlyer expands from attribution to measurement platform
AppsFlyer
AppsFlyer’s growth shows that attribution became a wedge, not the whole business. The core SDK still tells marketers which ads led to installs and purchases, but the company spent the last five years adding adjacent products that help customers route users from web to app, filter fraud, measure privacy constrained iOS campaigns, connect CTV exposure to downstream actions, and run privacy safe data collaboration. That turns a single app growth tool into a larger measurement system that can win more budget from the same customer.1 2 3 4 5
- The concrete expansion path was inside existing workflows. A mobile marketer already using AppsFlyer for install attribution could add Protect360 for ad fraud, deep linking to carry campaign context into the app, SKAN modeling for Apple privacy limits, and incrementality or analytics products for budget decisions, which raises contract value without requiring a new buyer.1 2 3 5
- The competitive set also widened. In classic mobile attribution, AppsFlyer fought Adjust, Kochava, Singular, and Branch. But once the product expands into web to app routing, CTV measurement, data clean rooms, and decision support, it starts competing for spend that might otherwise go to deep linking vendors, analytics stacks, experimentation tools, or internal data teams.1 2 4 6
- Privacy changes were the forcing function. Apple’s SKAN limits user level visibility, so raw attribution became less complete and more modeled. AppsFlyer responded by selling interpretation layers such as SKAN modeling and Privacy Cloud, which makes the product more valuable precisely when direct tracking gets harder.2 3 4 5
The next phase is a push from mobile measurement into cross channel budget control. If AppsFlyer keeps becoming the place where marketers reconcile app, web, CTV, and partner data under privacy rules, growth will come less from counting installs and more from owning the operating layer that tells large brands where to spend the next dollar.1 2 4
