From Discovery to Automated Remediation
Teleskope
The strategic value is moving from finding sensitive data to automatically doing something useful with it. AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft now ship native discovery and classification across core cloud data stores, which makes baseline scanning easier to buy from the platform itself. That pushes independent vendors like Teleskope to win on cross system coverage, remediation workflows, and policy engines that turn a finding into revoked access, redaction, deletion, tickets, or audit proof across many tools at once.

The cloud vendors now cover much of the first step. Amazon Macie provides automated sensitive data discovery for S3. Google Sensitive Data Protection offers continuous discovery, profiling, and post scan actions. Microsoft Purview applies classification through scans in its data map. That makes discovery less scarce as a standalone feature.

Teleskope is already positioned around the next layer. It connects to more than 30 systems across clouds, SaaS apps, databases, and collaboration tools, then uses its policy engine to revoke permissions, redact content, create tickets, and send alerts. That matters because many enterprises do not live inside one cloud or one catalog.

This is the same pattern seen in adjacent data security markets. BigID expanded from discovery into broader workflow and compliance products, while Immuta argues the durable value sits in a cross platform policy engine that lets teams write one business rule and enforce it across Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, and BigQuery. Rubrik likewise moved away from commodity backup infrastructure toward higher value security layers.
The category is heading toward closed loop automation. The winning product will not just label a column as sensitive, it will continuously map where data lives, decide who should or should not have access, trigger fixes inside the systems where work happens, and produce an audit trail that proves the policy was enforced. That direction favors Teleskope if it keeps deepening remediation and policy automation faster than the clouds deepen native controls.
