The deal turned Litmus from a pre send testing tool into a broader system of record for whether an email is ready, safe to send, and likely to land in the inbox. Litmus already handled the hands on workflow, building HTML, previewing it across Gmail and Outlook, checking links and images, and coordinating approvals. Validity added the missing layer after the draft is done, inbox placement, domain authentication, and continuous monitoring, so teams can stay in one stack instead of stitching together separate tools.

In practice, the combined workflow covers both halves of email operations. Litmus lets marketers and email developers edit code, generate client previews, run QA checks, and manage approvals. Everest adds inbox placement data, plus SPF, DKIM, and DMARC monitoring, which are the controls that help a message authenticate correctly and avoid spam filters.

This also changes how the product is sold. After the acquisition, Litmus Enterprise moved to unlimited seats and usage, with a Deliverability upgrade layered on top. That pushes Litmus beyond a collaboration and testing budget line, into a larger deliverability and infrastructure budget where the buyer cares about campaign performance, sender reputation, and uptime.

The closest pattern is a point tool expanding into a suite by owning an adjacent layer of the workflow. Customer.io used Parcel to move deeper into email creation, while Validity used Litmus to move upward from data quality and deliverability into the actual production workflow. The strategic prize is owning the daily console where teams prepare, send, and measure email.
The next step is tighter bundling between creation, deliverability, and AI guidance. Validity has already started shipping Litmus deliverability features and an AI layer built on its broader email data network. That points to a future where the same platform does not just test an email, it actively recommends how to change content, setup, and sending behavior before performance drops.
