The real fight is no longer over whether a company can identify a device, it is over whether that signal is strong enough to improve a full fraud stack. BioCatch, Arkose Labs, and Cloudflare now package device intelligence inside broader products that already handle login risk, bot defense, and payment abuse. That makes Fingerprint easier to buy when accuracy is mission critical, but harder to buy as a standalone line item for teams that can get good enough device signals from an existing vendor.

Each bundled rival attaches device identity to a larger workflow. BioCatch feeds device trust into digital banking fraud decisions. Arkose combines device ID with bot challenges and phishing defense. Cloudflare adds persistent IDs and behavior checks directly inside its edge security stack, so customers can turn them on without adding another vendor.

That changes what Fingerprint has to prove in practice. It needs to show that its API catches repeat visitors even when attributes change, returns decisions fast enough for checkout and signup flows, and keeps working when attackers spoof browsers or rotate devices. Those performance edges matter most in account sharing, free trial abuse, paywalls, and consumer identity graphs, where a false miss has direct revenue impact.

The company is already moving in that direction. Its positioning has expanded from a narrow device fingerprinting API toward broader device intelligence and visitor intent, and it is doing so from roughly $50M of estimated revenue. That supports a specialist play, but only if the product remains measurably better than the bundled alternatives customers already own.
The next phase is a shift from selling identification alone to selling outcomes. Fingerprint is likely to win where merchants and consumer apps need the best possible recognition layer across signup, login, checkout, and abuse controls. Everyone else will keep bundling device signals into wider security and payments products, which will compress the value of generic device ID over time.
