This shows FactSet is trying to become the operating layer around financial data, not just a terminal that sells its own feeds. The marketplace model lets a bank or asset manager buy outside datasets, FactSet datasets, and workflow tools in one place, then plug them into the same desktop, APIs, cloud feeds, and internal apps. That makes FactSet stickier because clients can consolidate vendors and keep more research work inside one technical stack.

FactSet distributes data through Snowflake Marketplace, AWS Data Exchange, Databricks Marketplace, and APIs, so a client can pull the same content into a warehouse, a quant model, a banker workflow, or an internal AI tool instead of forcing every use case back into the desktop.

• The competitive implication is bundling power. Newer AI research tools often sit on top of licensed financial data from incumbents like FactSet, while incumbents can respond by packaging proprietary data, third party content, and AI interfaces like Mercury together. That makes it harder for a point solution to displace the core data platform.

The next step is a marketplace where data, models, and AI agents are all sold as connected building blocks. As more financial firms want source linked answers inside their own software, the winning platform will be the one that can combine proprietary data, client data, and outside tools in a governed way, and FactSet is building directly toward that setup.
