Axiom Depends on Hyperliquid Infrastructure

Diving deeper into

Axiom

Company Report
While Axiom integrates Hyperliquid's infrastructure, this dependency creates risk if Hyperliquid launches competing front-end experiences.

This reveals that Axiom does not control one of its most valuable products, even though users experience it inside Axiom. In practice, the perp flow runs on Hyperliquid, not Axiom. Users fund a Hyperliquid sub account, trade on Hyperliquid markets, and Axiom mainly wraps that engine with branding, portfolio views, and a 0.01% fee. That works while Hyperliquid stays infrastructure only, but it becomes fragile once Hyperliquid starts distributing trading through its own wallets and partner apps.

  • Axiom’s perp product is close to an embedded reseller model. The user swaps into USDC, deposits to Hyperliquid, trades up to 50x leverage, and sees positions and PnL in Axiom’s dashboard. That means Axiom owns the interface layer, but Hyperliquid still owns the market, execution, and account rail underneath.
  • Hyperliquid is already moving beyond being a back end. Research shows it expanded through mobile wallet partnerships, and external reporting shows Phantom rolled out Hyperliquid powered perpetuals in its wallet in July 2025. That is exactly the kind of wallet native front end that can compress the value of an aggregator sitting on top.
  • dYdX is pushing the same direction from the other side. Research points to Telegram trading integration and social login features intended to reduce dependence on aggregator layers. The broader pattern is that exchange infrastructure providers are trying to own discovery, onboarding, and execution in one place, rather than leaving the user relationship to third party shells.

The next leg of competition is likely to be won at the interface layer, not the matching engine alone. If Hyperliquid keeps shipping wallet and app distribution, Axiom will need to become more than a wrapper, by owning trader discovery, automation, and cross product workflow strongly enough that users choose Axiom even when the underlying perp venue is available everywhere.
